Addressing the Challenges of Daily Operations at 12 Oaks Senior Living

Operational challenges are as commonplace as they are complex. From ensuring the highest standards of care to fostering a positive environment for both residents and team members, the demands can be daunting. However, at 12 Oaks Senior Living, we embrace these challenges head-on, viewing them not as obstacles, but as opportunities for growth and improvement.

Embracing Reality, Driving Improvement

At the heart of our approach lies a commitment to continuous quality improvement (CQI). We understand that to effectively address operational challenges, we must first acknowledge and discuss them openly. Our senior leadership team, including Regional Vice Presidents, engages in frequent operational strategy discussions, fostering an environment where frustrations are aired and solutions are sought. This commitment to open dialogue enables us to develop focused management strategies tailored to each community’s unique needs.

Localized Support, Consistent Strategy

One key aspect of our operational strategy is the localization of support. Each Regional Vice President oversees a handful of communities within a specific geographic area, allowing for greater assessment, coaching, and partnership with onsite teams. This localized approach ensures that challenges are met with targeted solutions, while also maintaining consistency in our overarching strategy. Lori Jones, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Clinical Officer says “Individual community business plans are developed in partnership with the team that addresses “the 4 P’s” of people, process, product and pricing.  I am a firm believer in consistency and strategy.”

Innovative Solutions, Personalized Support

At 12 Oaks, we understand that no two challenges are alike, which is why we’ve developed a specialized “Solutions” team dedicated to providing spot support for a wide range of issues, from staffing shortages to occupancy concerns. By taking a personalized approach to problem-solving, we’re able to address the unique challenges faced by each community, fostering a culture of innovation and adaptability.

Integration of Clinical Considerations

Clinical considerations play a critical role in our day-to-day operations. Our focus on the Trifecta team—comprised of the Executive Director, Resident Care Director, and Sales Director—ensures seamless integration between operational and clinical aspects. Through ongoing education, support, and communication, we foster a collaborative environment where resident care remains paramount. This year all levels of our organization are reading the book TRUST by Henry Cloud to better support the strength of the team. “A healthy and happy team supports overall resident care and services”, says Lori Jones.

Strategic Alignment for Exceptional Services

In our quest to deliver exceptional services, we recognize the importance of strategic alignment across all areas of our operations. Our back-of-house team, comprised of dedicated professionals from HR to accounting, plays a pivotal role in identifying and addressing challenges at the community level. By fostering a culture of pride, autonomy, and trust, we create an environment where innovation thrives, and operational excellence is the norm.

Continuous Improvement, Lasting Impact

At 12 Oaks Senior Living, the pursuit of excellence is not a destination but a journey—one that requires constant innovation, collaboration, and adaptability. By embracing the challenges of daily operations with a spirit of determination and resilience, we ensure that our communities remain vibrant, thriving, and welcoming places for residents and team members alike. Together, we are not just overcoming challenges; we are shaping the future of senior living.
